Two Nights, One River, Zero Notifications: River & Rest 2026

Most people don’t realize how tired they are until they finally stop.

You wake up. You work. You handle it. You go to bed. You do it again. And every once in a while you feel this pull in your chest that says “when did I stop feeling like myself?”

That’s what River & Rest is for.

What This Weekend Is

River & Rest is a two-night retreat on the Elk River, hosted at River Ranch Resort, October 23 through 25, 2026. It’s capped at 20 adults. Every meal is provided. Every float is guided. Every logistic is handled. All you do is show up with a sleeping bag and let yourself finally exhale.

It’s led personally by Dustin Shurback, our owner, who’s been on this river his whole life and knows what it takes to actually shift someone out of “on” mode.

What the Weekend Feels Like

Here’s what you should picture.

You arrive Friday afternoon. You set up at the communal sites we’ve saved for the group. The air is cool because it’s late October, and the leaves along the river are turning. You don’t have to figure out what’s for dinner. You don’t have to check anything. Someone else is cooking.

The next morning, you have coffee by the water. A guided float on the Elk in a canoe or kayak, at whatever pace feels right. Lunch on a gravel bar. Time to sit and just watch the water move. The way water sounds when nobody’s talking is a sound most people forget exists.

Saturday night is a fire, a shared meal, and the kind of conversation that doesn’t happen when everyone’s phones are out. You go to bed tired in a way that feels earned, not burned out.

Sunday morning is slower. Another float. Another meal. And then home, only you’re a slightly different version of yourself than the one who drove down Friday.

Who This Is For

It’s for the people who keep saying “I need a real break.” The ones with too many tabs open, too many responsibilities, and too many nights of not sleeping well. The couples who haven’t had a real, uninterrupted conversation in months. The single adults who want time in the outdoors without having to plan every detail themselves.

It’s not for people who want to party. This isn’t a peak-summer float weekend. It’s the opposite of that. It’s quiet on purpose.
